Remove obsolete status files for direct3D, directsound, and

internationalisation.

Introduction
------------
This file contains information about Wine's implementation of
Direct3D.
The current version has been tested using Mesa. For optimal
performances, you need at least Mesa 3.1 beta 2.
Where to find Mesa :
--------------------
The home of Mesa should soon be http://www.mesa3d.org/
For precompiled RPMs, use AltaVista or FTPSearch, but I prefer to 'Use
the Source' :-)
WARNING : if you experience crashes in D3DTexture2_Load, see file
d3dtexture.c for a 'cure'. You could also patch your version of Mesa
or get version 3.1 beta 2 or the latest CVS version.
How to configure Mesa :
-----------------------
For Mesa version > 3.1b2, you can configure the Voodoo driver to not
override the signal handlers (something that Wine does really not
like).
For that add the following lines to the /etc/mesa.conf file :

And do a 'export MESA_CONFIG=wine' before starting Wine.

Status
------
Some programs with which I tested the code :
* BOIDS.EXE (DX5.0) : works great. Only thing missing is the
texturing and transparency on the spinning gobes. Lighting seems to
be a bit different than the Real One.
* TWIST.EXE (DX3.0) : vertex transformation works as it
should. Texturing and lighting still off.
* Tomb Raider II (DX5.0) : works perfectly (but slowly) in software
mode. All the calls needed to make TR2 work have been written. In
3D accelerated mode with a Voodoo board, it works fine except for
color keying (no transparent textures :/). This is being
investigated with the Mesa authors.
* Jedi Knight Demo (DX3.0) : works well with the old OSMesa
code. Works for the new GLX code but without the 'head-up' display
(because it is blitted directly on the frame-buffer :/)
* Shadow of the Empire demo (DX3.0) : displays a mangled intro screen
(only blue squares on the screen)
* Forsaken Demo : starts to work. Texturing is missing and it is
really really slow.
* Grim Fandango (DX 3.0 !!) : works in DDraw mode. Some problems in
D3D mode as it does direct Z Buffer writing.
TODO
----
* work on optimizing Execute Buffers (i.e. Direct3D 3.0)
* restructuration of all the DDRAW.DLL (put that in the dll
directory, better separation of 'drivers, ...)
* start looking into DirectX 6.0
* inquire on Mesa / XFree86 mailing lists about direct access to
display hardware (for games such as Tomb Raider II that displays
vertices that are already in screen coordinates)
* look into thread safeness...

This file contains information on the current implementation of the DirectSound
API.
The DirectSound API can be found in the Win32 DLL dsound.dll and in the
IDirectSound* interfaces. It is implemented in multimedia/dsound.c.
The current implementation uses the Linux/FreeBSD OpenSoundSystem. Some
applications already work. There is only the basic part of the interfaces
implemented, but it is the stuff used by 90% of the applications.
It also uses multithreading, so it will only work on systems with working
CreateThread.
Tested with SoundBlaster(16) clone and Gravis UltraSound Classic.
TODO:
- Add support for other audiosystems.
+ Sun Audio. (Solaris and probably the *BSDs except FreeBSD.)
+ remote audio support (No clue as to what systems there are.
Use some audio xextensions?)
- Add support for mixing of different frequency and panning.
- Fix all the multithread pending race conditions and the like.
- Share filedescriptors and other stuff with mciwave/waveoutdevice code.
Gamestatus:
- Wing Commander 4/W95:
The intromovie plays without problems. Nearly lipsynchron.
- DiscWorld 2
The sound works, but noticeable chunks are left out (from the sound
and the animation). Don't know why yet.
- Diablo:
Sound works, but slows down the movieplayer. In the (hacked version)
game the sound is positively weird.
- Monkey Island 3:
The background sound of the startscreen works.
- WingCommander Prophecy Demo:
Sound works for the intromovie.
Status of Internationalisation and Language Support in WINE

Just like Windows, Wine must support several languages and
localised settings for countries other than the US.
Since the last module-loader re-organisation by Bertho,
this involves several files which need to be adapted to
support a certain language/region.
Keyboard Settings:
------------------
Currently, the following keyboard layouts are available:
US, UK, FR, Icelandic, DE, Swiss German, Swiss French, NO, DA, Swedish,
Canadian French, PT, IT, FI, RU, ES, Belgian.
Please refer to the Wine User Guide, chapter "Keyboard" on how to add
more keyboard layouts.
Locale Settings:
----------------
You can find the locale settings in ole/nls/ .
Most languages have several locale settings for the various
countries. See the ole/nls/README, documentation/languages and
MSDN's localeconv.htm for documentation on the structure
and sensible entries.
SysRes = System Resources :
---------------------------
(System Menu, Edit Menu, MessageBox)
10 denotes that all resources are localised
e denotes that the EditMenu is still in English
d denotes that the SYSMENU is lacking the 61762 debug entry in
either English or Regional language
You can find these settings in resources/sysres_*.rc
where * stands for your language code.
Please use the English version (sysres_En.rc) as example.

on how to add another language.
Shell32:
--------
1 SHELL_ABOUT_MSGBOX is in English, MENU_001, MENU_002 and
SHBRSFORFOLDER_MSGBOX are not present.
2 SHELL_ABOUT_MSGBOX is translated, MENU_001, MENU_002 and
SHBRSFORFOLDER_MSGBOX are not present.

According to Juergen Schmiedt, MENU_001 and MENU_002 are not
yet complete and shouldn't be translated yet.

Common Controls:
----------------
There are several menus present in dlls/comctl32/rsrc.rc.
Thuy Nguyen is still modifying the property dialog sheet templates,
so don't start translating them yet. Also, there is no structure for
comctrl32 internationalisation.
The resources for the other controls are stable.
Multimedia:
-----------
In the multimedia subdirectory, a large stringtable with all
multimedia errors and messages is waiting for translation.
Be careful, this is a large piece of text!
Programs:
---------
Several of the Winelib-based programs in programs/* contain their own
resources, which can be internationalised.
Check the appropriate files and subdirectories for instructions on
how to add additional languages.
Note that currently the Swedish files are named "Sw.rc" where they
should be called "Sv.rc".
The WCMD program notes that internationalisation is lacking, but doesn't
support it, either.
At this moment (Oct 2, 1999), the following is supported:
(10 = max support, 0 = very bad/broken support, empty = no support,
** = submitted)
(note that I only looked into the source, I did not try to run the various languages)
